"Betty" Marie L. Blessington (nee Lowry), 86, of West Chester, formerly of Tulsa, OK, passed away on February 5, 2014.
Born in 1927 in Bayonne, New Jersey, Betty was the daughter of Mary Ellen "Mae" (Murray) and John J. Lowry, both deceased.
She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Chestnut Hill College, was a French Teacher at various Northeast Philadelphia schools and later was a substitute teacher with the Haverford School District.
Betty was an avid reader, sometimes reading a book a day and she loved traveling. She enjoyed volunteering at the public library and at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late John J. Blessington; loving mother of Patricia A. Burns (Gary) and Janet M. Blessington (Jimmy Tucker); loving grandmother of Kevin M. Burns (Kelly) and Stephen R. Burns (Rene); loving great-grandmother of Peyton A. Burns and Quinn T. Burns.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at SS Peter & Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1617 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
