James Peter Brett, 42, of Exton, PA passed away suddenly of natural causes on March 11, 2020. With this loss, a light has gone out for a community of family, friends, and loved ones whose lives were brightened by his everyday kindness, humor, and loyalty.
Born in Chester, PA in 1977, he is the beloved son of James D. and Carol A. (née Colgan) Brett.
Jim was the loving and proud father of Vincent James Brett and Peter Wallace Brett, with former spouse Rosalie Brett; dear brother of Maria L. Mooney (Joe) and Kate E. Brett Miller (Jason); and loving boyfriend of Kaitlin Bitting.
Jim was a graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School and Ursinus College, where he was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He worked for many years in marketing and communications, most recently for Vanguard in the financial industry. He was an avid consumer and creator of music and brought wit and insight to all his endeavors.
Above all things, Jim loved spending time with Vincent and Pete, his dudes. The three shared a love of baseball, music, their dog Oakley, and going on adventures together. After building a family with Rosalie, the two forged separate paths but remained devoted and loving co-parents. Recent years brought some of his happiest times as Jim discovered passions for hiking, running, craft beer excursions, and travel alongside his beloved Kaitlin.
Services are private for family only. Please check back for date and time of future services open to public.
