James J. Meikle, Sr., 95, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away January 19, 2022.
Born December 31, 1926 in Scranton, PA, he was a son of the late James L. and Winifred (nee Walsh) Meikle.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean war.
James loved politics. Engaging in discussions and debates was a passion of his. He grew up during a time when the country was still growing and during a depression. He lived through a lot of history and wanted to share his knowledge of that history and the differences of then and now with his family. His other passion was boats, he loved working on them, taking them out on the Chesapeake. He spent many hours with his brother Bob working on old boats to get them water ready. His last boat was bought with his son Jim and they spent time together fixing her up, granddaughter Nikki using her sewing talents to make new cushions for the boat. The rest of the family enjoyed being on the boats with him.
James was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane (nee Martin) Meikle; loving father of James, Jr. (Denise) and Mary Chris Aiello (Joseph); pop-pop of Trisha, Joseph, Craig, Christin, Nikki and the late Paul; great grandfather of Hayden Aiello, Josie and Lucia Carola and dear brother of Winifred Ann Copeland (Steve). He was predeceased by his siblings: Robert, Paul, and Jean Marie.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 9:15 to 10:15 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Chester Heights, PA 19342, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
