It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph A. (Joe) D’Angelo, Sr., 79, on February 13, 2022. Joe resided in Media, PA over the past few years after spending most of his adult life in Upper Darby, PA. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Joanne M. (nee Pittore); loving father to Joe D’Angelo (Darlene) of Mountainside, NJ and Dana Kleinschmidt (Eric) of Havertown, PA; and proud “Pop” to seven grandchildren: Joey, Jason, Danny, Lauren, Ava, Caley, and Margo.
Joe grew up with his brother and best buddy, Frank, in South Philadelphia where he also met Joanne and began a lifelong career doing what he loved--fixing cars. He spent fifty years as an auto mechanic including over a thirty-year career with the US Postal Service as a garage manager at the 30th St. hub in Center City. In addition to constantly messing with cars, he was an avid sports fan in all things Philadelphia and could be found hollering at his television on any given night rooting for his teams. Besides being a great dad, he impacted the lives of many youths in Upper Darby, coaching football at St. Alice and baseball in the Upper Darby Little League, where he also served as a Treasurer for many years. Joe also enjoyed playing and watching golf, and took great pride maintaining what was arguably the finest lawn in town. Most importantly, Joe was a true family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe is predeceased by his parents Frank and Connie (nee Nocito) D’Angelo and brother Frank. He is survived by his sister-in-law Carol D’Angelo; sister-in-law Susan Streicher (John) and is loved by many family members and friends.
