Marie Orlandi

Marie T. Orlandi, (nee Marquardt) age 68, of Swarthmore, PA, passed away on May 16, 2021.   Born in Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie Marquardt (nee Williman) and was formerly married to the late John J. Orlandi.

Marie was a 1970 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Moylan.  She graduated from the James Martin School for Respiratory Therapy in 1988 and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Widener University in 2000.  She had been employed as a Respiratory Therapist at Lankenau Hospital from 1988, retiring in 2014.

Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy, book clubs, music and the arts. Her plans to pursue these interests full time were cut short when in 2014 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, progressive relapsing. She eventually lost the ability to walk and most of her hand function. She was determined to remain independent despite these losses and always met the challenges of her disease with dignity. Her signature laugh, singing voice and classic response, Wow!, will be missed. Marie had a great affinity for animals and especially enjoyed her beloved cat, Herbie. She had a great gift for listening and supported many in need with her generous spirit.

Marie is survived by her son, Jay Orlandi (Lisa), her siblings Charles Marquardt (Rita), Kathy Massa (Vince) and Anne Marquardt (Ben Oberoski), her granddaughter, Grace, and many nieces and nephews.

Interment is private. A private memorial service is planned by the family for 2022, and they ask that you include your contact information in the tribute section of this obituary so you can be added to the mailing list for that event.
