Michael Joseph Burke, 70, of Broomall, PA, passed away on January 31, 2021.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1950, he was the son of the late John A. and Rita (nee McCloskey) Burke. Michael was a 1969 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School. He served honorably in the US Army, and was employed by The Veterans Administration: Department of Veterans Affairs for more than 36 years as a programmer and information technology professional.
After his retirement, Michael was a bus driver for Marple-Newtown School District. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, making home videos, and collecting coins. He was an accomplished jack-of–all-trades who enjoyed helping his friends and family.
He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church for over 30 years and attended Malvern Retreat House for 43 years as a member of the Nativity BVM Retreat group.
Michael was the beloved husband of Maryanne (nee Longshore) Burke; loving father of Andrew M. Burke (Kristy) and Michelle Fabrey (Jonathan); caring grandfather of Audrey Burke, Emily Burke, Alana Fabrey, and Seamus Fabrey; dear brother of John Burke (Chris), Martin Burke (Diane), Regina Fey (Hank), Maryanne Burke, Lorraine Burke, and Maureen Gillespie.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008. Interment private.
