On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, Robert O. Warwick, Jr., loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 73 after a valiant battle with cancer. Robert was born on August 21, 1947 in Camden, NJ, and grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 and continued on to receive a PhD in Pharmacology from Purdue University in 1975. For more than ten years, he taught pharmacology and toxicology, first at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and later at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He left academia in 1988 to work at Weston Solutions Inc., creating toxicological profiles and working in human and ecological risk assessment. Over the course of his career, he authored numerous research articles, was a full member of the Society of Toxicology, and was a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. He continued working as a toxicology consultant for many years after retiring from Weston Solutions, Inc. After his retirement, he served on the Board of Directors of Holy Child Academy, where his grandson, Aidan, is a student.
When he wasn’t working, Rob enjoyed being outdoors - gardening in his yard, golfing with friends, and fishing. He enjoyed culinary adventures and fine wine, often dining out with his family and friends to sample new dishes. After retiring, he spent many happy days and nights in his Florida home with Margo, his wife of 48 years, making frequent trips to wildlife refuges to watch and photograph the birds of Florida. He loved escaping the long winter months in the northeast to soak up the Florida sun. Throughout his life, he was passionate about music - he especially loved bluegrass music and frequently attended festivals and concerts. He played both the banjo and guitar, and instilled his family with his love of music. His friends and family loved his wry sense of humor and use of puns and wordplay. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who leaves his family with many special memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence (Seitz) and Robert O. Warwick, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Varzaly), his daughters Jennifer (Bazeley) and Devon (Mongiello), his grandson Aidan O’Connell, and his sisters Barbara Carden and Marylou Warwick.
