Rodney Elwood Dickens, 87, of Malvern, PA, passed away January 28, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born June 30, 1933 in West Chester, PA, he was a son of the late Walter Elwood, Jr., and Emily Estelle (nee Woodward) Dickens.
Rodney served his country as a member of the Army from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War. In September 1957, Rodney married Almeta and they were happily married for 60 years.
Rodney was employed by Wyeth Laboratories for over 30 years. In addition to his career at Wyeth, Rodney worked as a painter for most of his life. In retirement, Rodney enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, throwing darts, playing Bocce ball, and spending time with his family.
Rodney was the beloved husband of the late Almeta (nee Wilson) Dickens; loving father of Joanne Haly (Richard), Sherri Shaffer (Robert), Thomas Dickens (Debbie), and Jeffrey Dickens (Christine); dear brother of Lois Howard and Lynn Boyd; adoring grandfather of Ashley Gonzalez (Carlos), Bryan Haly (Stephanie), and Laura Dickens; and proud great-grandfather of Luke Gonzalez with one more great-grandchild on the way. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean Dale.
A Life Celebration for all to attend will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Chester County Hospital Foundation in memory of Rodney Dickens.
