Rosemary Golden Hogan died on December 19, 2019 in Media, Pennsylvania after a short illness. She was born on August 6, 1930 in Troy, New York, the oldest child of Edward Wright Golden and Rosemary Dower Golden. She graduated from Saint Rose College in Albany, New York and worked in public relations for her father’s construction company. She married Aloysius J. Hogan, Jr. on July 14, 1952. They had five children, Rosemary (Peter), Aloysius (Mary), Edward (Heleen), Thomas (Susan) and Marguerite Fritsch (Kevan). Her love for history led her to guide tours of the historic Philadelphia and Valley Forge. She also served on the board and as a guide at the Hill-Physick-Keith House and Bartram’s Garden. She coordinated the Great Books reading club at St. Bernadette School, Drexel Hill and was a substitute teacher there. Her other volunteer work included St. Bernadette Home and School Association, Saint Rose Alumni and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Women’s Board. She was an active leader in the Family Apostolate scripture study group and was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Bernadette Church. Her passion for genealogy led her to membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She served as a local Chapter Regent and as a Pennsylvania State officer and was credited with bringing 11 family members into the DAR and her 11 grandchildren into the National Society Children of the American Revolution. She also assisted many other members with their genealogy searches. She was a member of the Philadelphia Catholic Historical Society and several other historical associations. She was a life member of The Ancient Order of Colonial Physicians and Chirurgiens, serving as the Chaplain General. Rosemary enjoyed traveling with her husband Al on genealogy trips to New England, as well as England and Ireland searching for ancestors from both of their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Aloysius and two brothers, Edward and John. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and great grandmother of 15 great grandchildren. In addition, to the children and grandchildren, she is survived by her sisters, Grace Shaw, Elizabeth Dunnell and Judith Quandt. Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Friday, December 27, 2019, 7:00-9:00 PM and Saturday, December 28, 2019, 9:00-9:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Followed by her Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Bernadette’s Church, 1035 Turner Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
