Adele Loftus Welde

Adele E. Welde (née Loftus), age 90, of Havertown, PA, passed away on April 4, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dominic Loftus and Laura Devanney (née Custer).

Adele attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in South Philadelphia and then West Catholic Girls High School. She remained friends with her Sorority Sisters forever and always enjoyed spending time with them. Adele worked in the corporate office of Swanson Company in Philadelphia until she married the love of her life, Frank Welde. Frank and Adele raised 7 wonderful children. After raising her children she reentered the workforce in the Oncology Department at Lankenau hospital where she worked 25 years until retirement. She was an avid reader and sports fan. Adele was a regular spectator at her children’s various sporting events. She was very active at each of her children’s schools.  Adele was a proud member and President of the Bonner Mother’s Club.  You can still find her recipe’s in copies of the Bonner Cookbook. Adele will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. 

Adele was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. "Frank" Welde; loving mother of Michael Welde (Marita), Daniel Welde (Amy), Patrick Welde (Judy), James Welde (Meg), and Fran Donohue (Mike); adoring "Gram" of Emily (Jared), Becky (Byron), Mickey (Julie), Frank, Emily, Ashley, Brian, Sean, Patrick (Danielle), Erin, James, Annie, John, Michael, Chrissy, Caity, Megan, Kelly, Matt, and Colin; caring great-grandmother of 6 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her two beloved children Frankie and Mary Ann Welde (Renee), her sister, Joan M. Dougherty (John), and her brother Joseph Loftus (Betty).

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 10, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA 19083. Int. SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers donations in Adele's memory to Dunwoody Village Employee Appreciation Fund, 3500 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA. 19073, would be appreciated.
