Agnes Marie Dougherty

Agnes Marie Dougherty, 79, of West Chester, PA, passed away on October 17, 2022.

Born October 23, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Marie (nee McGherin) O’Donnell. 

Agnes was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast in 1960. After graduating, she worked for Provident Mutual as an underwriter until she had children. After many years of caring for her children and her parents, she began a second career as a realtor with Coldwell Banker.

To know Agnes was to love Agnes. She spent her entire life caring for others, always putting everyone's needs before her own. She was selfless in every sense of the word. She loved entertaining and was known for her outstanding cooking. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, painting, drawing, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, Words with Friends, Scrabble, and pinochle. A perfect day for Agnes would undoubtedly involve the gathering of her beloved children and grandchildren. With them, she loved playing, laughing, storytelling, listening to music, and enjoying a funny movie or show. Her family was the center of everything she did and gave her the most joy.  Those that had the privilege of knowing Agnes shared that she was one of the nicest people they have ever met. 

Agnes was the loving mother of Christine (Pete), Cathleen, John (MJ), and Patrick (Kim); adoring mom-mom of 9 grandchildren: Nicole (Rich), James (Stacey), Ryan, Kirsten, Nathan (Amy),  Samantha, Morgan, Ryleigh and Lexie; and 3 great-grandchildren: Kinsley, James IV, and Ava; sister of Nancy Terne; and aunt of Jeanne and Kristen. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward O’Donnell. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM, Monday, October 24, 2022, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by her Memorial Service at 11 am.
