Alec A. Meena

Alec A. Meena, age 24, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away suddenly on September 20, 2022.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, Alec was the son of Stanley and Selina Meena (nee Mbowe).

Alec was a strong-willed and loving person and a loyal friend.  He loved walking and exploring the City of Philadelphia.  He loved Collingswood, NJ (where he just relocated to) and Avalon, NJ. 

Alec accepted Christ when he was in preschool.   Riding in the car with his parents, he learned the healing presence and immediately chose to accept the Lord to be his Savior. 

Alec was employed as an Accountant, a subject that offered him professional flexibility and being in demand.  He enjoyed Anime and discussing with his cousins group chat the One Piece Manga and One Piece theories.   Each manga drop brought excitement among his cousins. 

Alec rooted for any of the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Flyers.   He was a fan of tennis, especially Novak Djokovic.   He loved extreme music, especially Gatekeeper and Title Fight and attended many concerts with his friends.   He loved video games – Divinity 2 Original Sin, Smash Brothers and Fire Emblem and enjoyed talking about new game releases. He had an incredible knowledge of movies.   He watched a lot of Indie movies and art films with his friends.   His favorite movie was The Dualist.  He also enjoyed the television series Game of Thrones. 

Alec loved history and would watch hour-long You Tube videos on random historical moments.  He loved reading, especially fiction.  His favorite recent series was the Malazan Book of the Fallen and The Wheel of Time. 

As a child, Alec enjoyed traveling to Easton, MD to visit his cousins.   He enjoyed visiting The Bog in Scranton and the 700 Club in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. 

In addition to his parents, Alec is survived by brother, Kevin Meena and many cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 9:00-11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and to his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.   Interment West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
