Angela was born on May 28, 1922. She was the daughter of Carmelo and Matilda Gangemi and was predeceased by her three siblings, Anthony, Carmelo, and Frances. She grew up in South Philadelphia and graduated from the high school there.
In 1945 Angela married Joseph D. Esposito and they had four children: Joseph (Nancy), Anita Rauch (Richard), Robert D. (Suzanne), and David R. Angela was also a well loved and admired godmother, aunt, cousin and friend, and she was most proud of her eleven grandsons and six great grandchildren, with one more on the way!
Angela raised her four children in Upper Darby, and in 1964, she and her husband moved to Springfield where she enjoyed being a homemaker, gardener, and party planner extraordinaire to celebrate all her children's many high school activities. Her home was "party central" for celebrations of every kind! Angela love being a homemaker! "Multi-tasker" was her middle name! She was creative, crafty, and very quick at meeting the needs of everyone she knew. She was respected in her neighborhood for the beautiful garden she created and maintained. When she wasn't tending to her family and home, she loved interacting with friends and neighbors. She was truly a loyal friend that others could always count on for support. She loved to bowl in St .Dorothy's Women's League. She bowled for over thirty years! Playing canasta with a group of neighborhood ladies was another highlight of her week.
Participation in Community Activities continued when Joe and Angie moved to Fox Hill Farm in 1998. This 55 and over community was a perfect match for Angela's out- going personality. She loved sitting by the pools even though she never conquered the skill of swimming! Bocce Ball was another story! She was so good at that she was elected captain of her team. Since she spent most of her life doing knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing, she was a natural fit in the "Stitch and Bitch" club! After all, how could she ever complete making eleven needlepoint Christmas stockings for each of her grandsons? Angela also painted beautiful ceramics. No piece was too challenging as she proudly displayed her creation of an entire Christmas Village each year and made ceramic Christmas trees for every family member.
Angela was a perfect grandmother! She never missed a school activity, musical concert, or sporting event. She saved every program, took photos, and then made a lifetime scrapbook for every grandchild when they graduated. She was thrilled to be around children and they naturally gravitated to her. But older people loved her too. When it came to new challenges, Angie was always willing to try! She was hired as a secretary at the Tupperware Office and successfully learned how to use a computer for the first time at age 50. Her prize possession was her diamond tennis bracelet that she received as a gift of thanks honoring her when she retired!
Music was an important part of Angela's life. She sang in the Sons of Italy choir and danced the Tarantella at the 1939 World's Fair. One of her greatest joys was listening to her husband, children and grandchildren as they played their musical instruments, especially the baby grand piano she bought Joe when she retired. Everyone loved the sound of music that enhanced the joy in her home.
In her senior years, Angela never tired of being the matriarch of her family. She was a companion to many, a lasting steadfast friend, and a mother, godmother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose wisdom, kindness, and love will be respected and remembered forever by those who knew and loved her!
