Angela Camille Shinal, age 80, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 11, 2020, due to complications from chronic pneumonia. She was born in the Bronx, New York, to Thomas and Mary Oliverio. She married the love of her life, Edward Charles Shinal in March of 1965, who passed before her in 2007.
Angela was full of love, with a generous heart. Her Italian spirit was full within her, as she was quick to hug family, friends and even people she just met, and loved to feed them all too! Both were expressions of her love, and anyone who spent any time with her could feel that.
A dedicated nurse throughout her life, even in her retirement she stayed busy doing community nursing, flu clinics for the migrant workers at the local mushroom farms, visiting nurses programs through the church, and volunteer work as a Hospice Nurse. She brought comfort and a smile to many when she combined her Hospice nursing skills and playful, loving, reassuring presence to become Daisy the Clown, visiting the bedside of hospitalized patients in their darkest hours.
Angela is survived by her three children and their spouses and partners; Jeff and Mariela Shinal, Amy Shinal and Alex Sheriff, and Kevin Shinal and Amanda Miller, as well as all her grandchildren who lovingly called her Mamie; Taylor, Sarah and Edward Shinal, Camille Shinal and Guillermo Rodriguez, and Lincoln and Allie Sheriff. Her loving, motherly energy and her feisty, playful spirit will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Due to the current state of the world, the funeral service will be limited to a small service with immediate family only, although we hope to have a Celebration of Life Service sometime this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Angela’s favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at www.StJude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
