Angelina “Cookie” (nee Fichera) O’Brien, age 87, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on November 29, 2020.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Catherine (nee Pappalardo) Fichera.
Angelina was the beloved wife of the late Joseph W. O’Brien, for over 50 years; the loving mother of Robert J. O’Brien and Catherine Bailey (John); the devoted grandmother of Lauren and Joseph O’Brien and Jack Bailey; And greatgrandmother to Ava O’Brien. While she was Mom-Mom to her grandchildren, Robert and Angela O’Brien, and her adopted children, Ashley, Amanda, and Alycia Phillips, she fulfilled the role of mother. Raising them in a loving household along with her husband. As a strong-willed woman, family members referred to her as “the glue” that kept them together through good times and bad.
She loved having her family around her whether visiting her daughter and her family, boating with her son, or continuing to create memories in Ocean City with all the grandchildren. Her grandchildren and their accomplishments were a constant source of pride.
She was a healthy 87-year-old who liked to walk every day with her dog Fifi and bowled once a week (pre-COVID). On sunny-days she could be found sitting on her bench in front of the house waving to neighbors, as they went on their daily walks. She enjoyed daily outings with her son, “Big Robert,” for lunch, shopping or visiting his work locations. She always wore her mask and kept safe distances from others, nonetheless, her life was taken by COVID. Honor her by wearing your mask and minimizing your interactions with others, until we are safely through this terrible time in our history.
Relatives and close friends are invited with discretion to her Funeral Mass, Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 12:00 PM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
