Anna M. Lyman (née DeJohn) of Philadelphia and Springfield passed away peacefully on November 9, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Sr. and Lillian DeJohn (née Finocchio).
Anna was the beloved wife of the late David P. Lyman; loving mother of Kathleen Spratt (the late John) and Carol Kennedy (Bruce); devoted grandmother of Christopher (Mary), Sarah, Brandon, and Colin; sister of the late Thomas DeJohn Jr. and the late Rita Simone. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Anna attended St. Monica School and graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1942. She was the Assistant Credit Manager for Fischman & Tobin, a children’s clothing manufacturer, for thirty years.
After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Some of her favorite pastimes included baking cookies and pizzelles, cooking dinner specialties for the family and casino trips with her friends. She especially enjoyed family vacations to the Jersey Shore, Outer Banks, Disney World and Bermuda.
Anna loved attending the annual New Year’s Day parade and hosting an open house celebration for family and friends throughout the day. She always made time to attend her grandchildren’s school and sporting events to show her
love and support. Anna was always there to lend a hand or offer words of wisdom to her family.
She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Thursday, November 17, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave, Springfield, PA 19064. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
