Anne Houchins

Anna Marie "Annie" Houchins, 88 of Devon, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.
Over the years, Annie initially worked at the 3M Company, and then after her first daughter was born, as a volunteer at Mother of Divine Providence School in King of Prussia, PA. Later on, she was the manager of the Valley Forge Ice Hockey Rink, where she both hosted the Little Flyers program for the Philadelphia area, as well as provided ice skating legend Scott Hamilton support. She moved on to work at Republic Steel in sales, then ultimately found her true calling as the store manager of the Bryn Mawr, PA Waterloo Gardens. Her last role, and most important to her, was in the gift shop of the Waterloo Gardens store in Devon, PA. She very much enjoyed sales, and most importantly customer service, which was her brand specialty. She will be remembered by many of her loyal customers and associates for her kind and generous spirit and boundless energy.
Born in Malvern, Pennsylvania on August 17, 1926, she was the daughter of Paul and Esther Wasson. Surviving her are two daughters, Barbara H., wife of Hugh Connor, Salt Lake City, UT and Karen H., wife of Joe Grimes, Villanova, PA and two grandchildren, Seamus Connor and Sean Grimes.
Annie's hobbies included being an avid reader, a member of the Great Books Foundation, a volunteer at the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair every year and became an avid baseball fan while following her grandson Sean's baseball career through college.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday afternoon January 28, 2015 from 3 to 5 PM, with Words of Remembrance from 4:30 to 5 PM, at The Donohue Funeral Home 366 W. Lancaster Pike, Wayne, PA. Interment will be private in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Annie's name to the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Foundation, P.O. Box 865, Devon, PA 19333.
