Anne Therese Smith (nee Larkin), age 87, of Radnor, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018.
Teesie was the beloved wife of the late J. Palmer Smith III. She is survived by her daughters Carrie (Bill) Edwards, Florence (Bill) Sturm and Patty Smith (Peter Gardner) and her sons John (Jane) Smith, and Joseph (Carolyn) Smith. Teesie is also survived by 18 adoring grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sister-in-law and numerous friends. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her parents Katharine E. Larkin (nee Lochrey) and Joseph Francis Larkin Jr., as well as her brothers and sister, Joseph, Raymond, Charles and Caroline.
Teesie was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Upper Darby, PA. She attended Mater Misericordiae (Merion Mercy) Academy and Immaculata University. She met the love of her life, Palmer, at a DKE fraternity party while he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, they were married in 1955 and moved to the Panama Canal Zone, Palmer's home, while he completed his Army Officer Commitment. In 1957 Palmer and Teesie returned to the States and settled in the Philadelphia suburbs where they raised their 5 children.
Teesie was a member of Saint Katharine of Siena parish for 54 years. She volunteered on many church committees and especially enjoyed her work with HOPE. She also was a volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital as a Pink Lady, which brought her much joy.
Teesie's greatest accomplishment was her large, loving family, but she never turned down an offer to visit a casino and pull a slot machine handle.
She faced her cancer diagnosis with the same grace and grit with which she lived her life.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Katharine of Siena Church, 104 S. Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA from 10:30 AM to 11:50 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Sisters of Mercy Retirement Fund, 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion, PA 19066 would be appreciated.
