Annie Spruell

Annie Spruell, age 82, of Lafayette Hill, PA, passed away on March 7, 2025. Born in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Annie (nee Wilson) and Clifton Earl Little, Sr.

Annie's professional life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to others. For the majority of her career, she devoted herself to the education of young minds as a substitute teacher in Philadelphia, where her passion for teaching shone brightly. Her keen intellect and nurturing disposition made her not only an educator but also a confidante to her students, who found in her a great listener and an understanding mentor. Annie's influence extended beyond the classroom; she cultivated her creativity as a beautician, applying her skills in hair and makeup to bring joy and confidence to those she worked with. Her hard work and enthusiasm were infectious, and those who knew her often marveled at her ability to connect with people from all walks of life, fostering relationships built on empathy and trust.

Annie is remembered for her strong-minded nature—she possessed an indomitable spirit and an unshakeable resolve. Yet, it was her kindness that left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family, friends, and students. She had a unique talent for making others feel at ease, embodying the essence of a great communicator.

As she embraced life, Annie remained deeply rooted in the values instilled in her from childhood; her early years in North Carolina shaped her compassionate outlook, while her time in North Philadelphia allowed her to spread her wings and leave an enduring legacy.

Annie was the beloved mother of Tracey Spruell-McMoore, Reginald Spruell, Gregory Spruell, and the late Sonya Marie Spruell. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, John Wilson, Dorothy Shelby, and Clifton Little, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to Annie's Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA followed by her interment at The White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, Feasterville, PA.
