Anthony Iacovelli

January 26, 1940 — August 29, 2016

Anthony G. Iacovelli, 76, of West Chester, PA passed peacefully on August 29, 2016 at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester, PA.



Beloved husband of Barbara S. (Smith) Iacovelli; loving father of Lisa Whitten (Mark), Michael Iacovelli (Stephanie) and the late Jami Collins (Leon); dear brother of Tammy Crumlish (Jim) and step-father of Joseph Corba (Faye), Nicole Corba and Melissa Grady (Todd); loving grandfather of Mark, Matthew, Joseph, Michael, Jane and Anne.



Born in 1940 in Bryn Mawr, he was the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Picarelle) Iacovelli.



Tony was a graduate of Lower Merion High School and attended Stetson University where he was a sportswriter for the university newspaper and was a sports referee. After working for different employers, he founded the road construction company, A.J. James Company, Inc.



He was very active in his church with his young family and was instrumental in their lives. He was president of various West Chester East High School booster clubs, and was a coach and founding member of various sports clubs including the Greater Chester Valley Soccer Association and Great Valley Big League baseball team. Tony went on to start the Chesco Chiefs baseball club in the West Chester Adult Baseball League and coached there for several years. Tony was an avid sports fan and rooted passionately for all Philadelphia sports teams.



Tony was elected as an East Goshen Township Supervisor serving as chairman for a number of years, and he was also a commissioner of the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department. He had a major interest in military history

especially with his father serving in the US Navy during World War II.



Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 2:30-3:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Francis in the Fields Church, 689 Sugartown Rd., Malvern, PA 19355. The memorial service begins at 3:00 p.m., with interment following the service in the church cemetery.
