Anthony J. “Tony” McKee, age 93, of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on February 15, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James A. and Winifred McKee (nee Walsh).
Tony was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, serving in Puerto Rico. He often said that this was one of the best times in his life. After his military service he worked for many years as a stereotyper for Philadelphia newspapers, also serving in leadership roles in his local union. After his printing career, he worked in several capacities at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
In retirement, he became an avid golfer with fond memories of days spent at Cobbs Creek that became stories he shared with many. An almost daily patron of the Havertown Y, he was committed to physical exercise and enjoyed his friends at the Y. An excellent swimmer in his youth, he looked forward to annual visits to Ocean City and Sea Isle City.
Tony was an avid reader, music lover and a fan of old movies.
Tony was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. McKee (nee Ash); loving father of Kathleen Watson (Richard) and Mary Ellen Cox (John); adoring grandfather of Anthony Cox (Sophie), Nicholas Cox (Meghan), Caroline Levy (Drew), and Lisa Cox; caring great-grandfather of Owen Cox, Hannah Levy, Benjamin Levy, Allie Cox, Brooke Cox, and Shelby Cox. Predeceased by his siblings, Ellen Febbo, James McKee, John “Jack” McKee, Ann Matsinger, Margaret Crilly, and Jean Molineux (Barry).
Relatives and friends are invited to Anthony's Visitation Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby PA, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield PA.
