Ann “Toni” Dougherty passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 in Springfield, PA at the age of 92 after a long life of many happy memories.
She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, a friend to many. She was predeceased by her husband Joe, her sisters Lucy and Mary, her brother Jerry, nephews Eddie and Mike, great-nieces Kelly and Jacki, and her great-grandson Michael, Jr., Her beloved dog, Muggsy, is also awaiting her.
She is survived by her children Cathy McCloskey (Bud); John Dougherty (MaryAnn), Linda Dougherty (John Walenta) and honorary daughter Christina DiZebba as well as grandchildren B.J., Mike, Moira, Meg, Erin, Abigail and Luca. To her great delight, she was the great-grandmother to Mikayla, Kinsley, Evie and Riggs. She was beloved “Aunt Toni” to generations of nieces and nephews, and considered Nancy, Joe and Tom to be just like her own kids.
Ann lived her entire life in Pennsylvania, and was happy to do so. She remained close to her sisters throughout their long lives, and she enjoyed the simple pleasures like growing vegetables in her garden, cooking and baking, and hosting gatherings small and large. Most of all, she enjoyed being around people. She was the ringleader of family vacations and holiday events, where all were welcome, and both she and her house would be joyfully decked out in seasonal attire. No matter where she was, the space around her seemed to be always full of life and activity, people and food. An optimist by nature, she found the humor in everything, and even used to sing (in impromptu duets with Doris Day) “que sera sera, whatever will be will be.”
We will all miss her, but we keep many happy memories, and firmly believe that she is currently part of a large reunion in Heaven, wearing one of her many holiday sweaters.
Family and Friends are invited to her Visitation Friday April 28th, 2023, from 11:00am-12:00pm at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:15pm in St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
