Arland J. "Artie" Reed

Arland J. “Artie” Reed, age 85, of Sumter, SC, formerly of Lebanon, PA, passed away on August 13, 2023 surrounded by his family.  He was the son of the late Claire Reed and Marian (nee Zerbe) Sanders. 

Artie was raised in the Shipoke area of Harrisburg, PA, then lived in Lebanon, PA for most of his adult life, and later moved to Sumter, SC where he has lived the past 13 years. He was an electrician by trade and worked hard every day of his life. Artie was a proud Airmen first class of the U.S. Air Force. More than anything he loved fixing things and spending time with his friends and family.

Artie was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine E. (nee Gassert) Reed, brother of Roger R. Reed and devoted step-father of Harry J. Heagy (Catherine), Michael A. Mann (Marta), and the late Carl W. Heagy (Det).

Artie is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Tobi DiSalvatore, Leah Yanega, Shane Heagy, Emily Hussey, Bill Heagy Sr., Tim Heagy, Pat Heagy, Maureen Dilworth, Bridget Lira, Julia Prior, Andrea Boyer, Lilian Manges, Jaclyn Lyons and Lester Ginannii III. Along with 22 great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews whom he adored. Artie was predeceased by his grandson Harry J. Heagy, II.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Service at 7:00 PM. Everyone is invited to his Interment 1:00 PM on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003.
