Arlene C. Doney (Traub) entered heaven’s gates on August 28, 2022. She was born in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania on October 26, 1929. Arlene’s childhood and young adult life were spent in Cunnaughton, Plymouth Township along with her siblings John Traub (deceased) and Anna Traub Freas (deceased). Her parents John and Anna Traub were the owners of the “Curb Inn.” She attended Ivy Rock, Blackhorse and Conshohocken High School.
Arlene resided in Upper Darby, PA for 52 years before moving to Wildwood Crest, NJ. She loved being at her “shore house” and taking bus trips throughout the United States with her husband. Arlene was predeceased in life by her husband of 31 years James P. Doney, her stepchildren Michael and David Doney and her former spouse Walter J. Bonkoski. She is survived by her children Kathleen Holtzinger, Kenneth W. Bonkoski (wife Linda), Janice Gillin (husband: Michael “Ace”), and Paul W. Bonkoski (wife Mary Lynne), and stepchildren Kathleen Doney Grebb (husband: John) and James Doney, Jr.
She was the matriarch of 13 grandchildren:Anita, Jason, Kenneth Jr., Melissa, Keith, Michael, Charlene, Natalie, Garrett, Sarah, Jason, Paulie, Jr, and Lauren. Arlene has 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Arlene will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family, and the countless memories she made for those who were blessed to have her as a part of their life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Saint Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 to honor Arlene’s love of family and animals.
