Augustus C. Sutera

Augustus C. "Gus" Sutera, 85 of Broomall, PA formerly of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on March 5, 2023.  Born in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Augustus and Florence Sutera (nee Stewart) and Stepfather Sam Sutera. Also, Brother of late Frances West (Herman) and Stepbrother Salvatore Sutera.

Gus worked for Autocar as a Truck Mechanic, Machinist for Hygrade Food Products and then retired from Upper Darby School District where he was the Custodian at Bywood Elementary School.  Gus was loved by all the students and teachers, where he was known as “Mr. Gus”.  

Gus enjoyed dancing with his wife and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, old TV Shows, and the History Channel.

Augustus was a loving family man and devoted husband.  He was well liked by all that met him and all enjoyed being in his company. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara (nee DiRenzo).  Loving father of Deb Kelly (Michael), Augustus Sutera (Linda), and Donna Layden (William), and favorite Pop of Michael, Kristina, Gus, Andrew, Matt, Billy and Abby. Great-grandfather to Nicholas, Ben, Aurora and Mazen. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lorraine Sutera as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, March 10, 2023, 8:30 - 10:15 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
