Barbara J. Burke

Barbara J. Burke, age 82, passed away November 22, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Robert and Ellen (nee Cannon) Lowry.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Christopher J. Burke Sr.; children, Christopher Burke Jr., Colleen C. Burke, Ian B. (Carey) Burke, and Katie T. (Kent) Perkins; sister, Mary Ellen (Bob) Scott; grandchildren, Kevin, Erin, Taylor, and Justin.  She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Lowry.

Barbara was born to Irish immigrants growing up in Upper Darby where she met the love of her life.  Together they made their life in King of Prussia raising their 4 children. She worked for 20 years for Merion Publication and volunteered at Marian’s Attic.

She enjoyed her garden, playing tennis, going for walks in Valley Forge Park and Zumba classes. She and Chris loved traveling the world including riding a camel in Egypt, walking the Great Wall of China and finding her family in Ireland.

She was a beloved Nana to her 4 grandchildren and loved supporting them through all activities including sports, fishing, dance, and all accomplishments. 

She loved family gatherings and felt it was important to live in the moment and be present in all activities.  She was loved by her 4 children who will miss calling Mom.

Barbara’s visitation will be held Saturday, December 9th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA followed by her service at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.
