Barbara Hugo, 83, of Newtown Square, PA | Born in Sayre, PA | Passed peacefully at home surrounded by family
Barbara Hugo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in Newtown Square, PA, at the age of 83. Her long and fulfilling life was marked by devotion to family, deep faith, and an unwavering spirit.
Born in Sayre, PA, to Edward and Nancy Miller, Barbara grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings. She graduated from Sayre Area High School, where she met the love of her life, James Hugo. Together, they shared 63 beautiful years of marriage.
Barbara’s life was defined by love—most of all, love for her family. She was the proud mother of four children: James, Charles, Ann Marie, and Mary Ellen. Her heart swelled with pride for her ten grandchildren—Kristina (Cameron), Lauren (David), Tommy (Jessica), Jimmy, Sara, Sammy, Kimberly, Kelli, Steven, and CJ—and her five cherished great-grandchildren: Blayke, Devin, Ensley, Makayla, and David.
A devout Catholic, Barbara’s faith was her foundation. She embodied the values of kindness, service, and perseverance. Her strong will and fierce determination were matched only by her warmth and compassion. She loved deeply and cared for those around her with her whole heart. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she considered her proudest accomplishments.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nancy Miller; her brother Charles Miller; and her sister Nancy Farr.
She is survived by her loving husband James Hugo Sr.; sons James (Lori) and Charles; daughters Ann Marie (Sam) and Mary Ellen (Michael); her brother Eddie Miller (Rosie); sister Patricia Park (Leon); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her.
