Barbara Ann Speers

Barbara Ann Speers, age 74, passed away May 1, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Frank and Olga Saddoy.

Barbara was survived by her loving husband Robert “Jack” Speers and her loving children John Alexander Speers, William J. (Megan) Speers, and Robert Joseph (Jessica) Speers. She was the adoring grandmother to Ava, Elia, Aden, Eve, Jack, and Juliet. She was also survived by her sister Chris Lubking and nieces Meredith and Susan.

After earning two master’s degrees, Barbara dedicated her career to counseling her students within the Philadelphia School District. She was known for her compassion, empathy, and willingness to help anyone at a moments notice.

Barbara had many hobbies and was active in several different communities. After retiring, she completed the Master Gardener Program at Pennstate Brandywine and continued her gardening passion with her friends and community members. She served as Chairperson of the Shade Garden Committee and Greens and Gifts. She was a member of the MG recruitment team and a staple at the registration table at many, many Spring and Fall Fests. At the time of her passing, she received a blanket as a gift of gratitude for her service.

She was also highly active within Presbyterian Church and served many functional roles within the community. When she wasn’t gardening or at the church, she enjoyed exercising at the Rocky Run YMCA and actively participating in Zumba.

Barbara enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family especially at the beach in Cape May, NJ. Barbara was very active in her community and worked at Springfield Voting and polling.

She will be forever loved and missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invite to her viewing Saturday, May 13 th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 356 Summit Rd, Springfield, PA followed by her funeral service at 11:00 AM.
