Barbara Ruth (Hoff) Van Riper

Barbara Ruth (Hoff) Van Riper, 77, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2024, after a long illness.

Born April 14, 1947, in Princeton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (nee Hay) Hoff. She grew up on a small farm and graduated from Princeton High School in 1965. She was a dedicated homemaker, and managed the daily operations of Designs for Business, co-owned with her husband, for several years.

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late William “Buzz” Drexler Van Riper, Jr.; loving mother of William “Bill” D. III, Jacob H. (Christina) and Alexandra C. O’Hara; and devoted grandmother of Zachary, Zoey, Kellen, Morgan, Kathleen, and Teaghan.  She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Carje. Barbara is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Barbara was a gifted cook and baker, avid gardener, and loved traveling the world, especially to the British Islands where she could trace her English and Scottish heritage.

Barbara will be remembered for her creative and artistic abilities, talents in the kitchen, and an open door to her home. She was an impeccable hostess and took delight in blessing her family and friends on holidays and special occasions.
 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday June 17, 2024, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment at Oaklands Cemetery, West Chester.
