Mr. Be Hua, aged 88, of Broomall, PA, passed away on July 15, 2023. He was born in August 1934 in Can Tho, Vietnam, the son of the late Thai V. Hua and Hai T. Ngo.
In the 1960s, Mr. Hua served as a Major in the Republic of Vietnam Marines and was later appointed as the Military Attaché at the Consulate General of the Republic of Vietnam in Japan. He dedicated his life to serving his country with honor and integrity.
Prior to the war's end, Mr. Hua ventured into the business world and founded Hanh-Trang Import and Export of Fine Art Products Corp., a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit. Sadly, his business journey in Vietnam came to an end with the conclusion of the Vietnam Civil War in April 1975.
Following the war's end, Mr. Hua faced challenging times as a former Major of the Republic of Vietnam Marines. He was sent to multiple Communist Re-education camps in North Vietnam, where he endured almost five years without any family visits. Despite the hardships, he remained steadfast and never lost hope.
In 1990, a new chapter began for Mr. Hua when he, along with his wife and six of their eight children, started a new life in the United States. Despite the trials he faced, he continued to contribute to society, dedicating his efforts to helping others, especially fellow aging Vietnamese immigrants who were starting afresh, much like he did. In 1994, Mr. Hua and his colleague joyfully celebrated the establishment of The Vietnamese Association for Aging Philadelphia & Suburbs, an organization that became instrumental in helping others adapt to their new lives. Mr. Hua served as its president until his health significantly declined in 2017.
Through the Association, Mr. Hua organized trips for its members, provided assistance with language barriers, and thoughtfully reserved more than 100 lots at Fernwood Cemetery for the aging Vietnamese community, ensuring they would have a place of rest and remembrance.
Beyond his dedication to community service, Mr. Hua cultivated diverse interests and passions. He found solace and joy in listening to music, exploring new places through travel, and cherishing memories through photography, recording videos, and skillfully editing both photos and videos.
Mr. Hua was the beloved husband of the late Hop Nguyen and the loving father of Luoc Hua (Chi Luu), Hanh Hua (Tuan Pham), Liem Hua (Mai Le), Hao Hua (Jim Kotz), Vu Hua (Thuan Tran), Trang Hua (Khanh Le), Jason Hua (Tran Huynh), and the late King Hua (Tam Nguyen). He was a caring brother to Loc Hua, Lien Hua, Van Hua, Suong Hua, and the late Hoa Hua. Mr. Be Hua passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2023, and is already missed dearly by his 10 grandchildren: Evelyn Hua, Thomas Hua (Nichole King), Anh Pham (Jonathan Kim), Khoi Pham, Jefrey Hua, Elizabeth Hua, Bryan Hua, Victoria Hua, Vincent Hua, and Leon Hua and will be dearly missed by his 3 greatgrandchildren: Carter Hua, Madison Hua, and Bruce Kim.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during his Prayer Service from 2:00-3:30 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2023, followed by his Viewing from 4:00-8:00 PM, both held at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. An additional Viewing will be held from 8:30-9:30 AM on Monday, July 24, 2023, followed by his Prayer Service from 9:30-10:30 AM, also at The Donohue Funeral Home, Newtown Square, PA. Interment will take place at Fernwood Cemetery, 6500 E. Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA.
