Beatrice "Bea" Colangelo (nee Iovacchini), 52, passed away peacefully at her home on August 15, 2018 (Day of the Assumption of Mary).
Bea was a life-long resident of Newtown Square.
An excellent athlete, she was the first female baseball player at Newtown Edgmont Little League.
She graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1984 and remained an active member of the community throughout her entire life.
She was a teacher for many years, most recently at Child Steps Preschool in Broomall, PA.
Bea was very involved in her children's lives, helping with school activities and coaching their sports teams.
She also volunteered at a local homeless shelter, and was an active member of the St. Anastasia Church.
She loved to vacation with her family, and enjoyed bowling and bingo nights with her friends.
Bea had a laugh and a smile that would light up a room, and will be dearly missed by all.
Bea is survived by her husband of 23 years, Tony; and their children, Emily, Olivia, and Anthony; by her parents Robert and Gayle (McDonough) Iovacchini; and by her siblings Robert Iovacchini Jr. (Donna), Gaye D'Ottaviano, Lisa Iovacchini-Buoni (Robert) and Vince Iovacchini (Magda); and many nieces and nephews.
A small private memorial service will be held for immediate family according to Bea's wishes.
A Celebration of Life gathering in Bea's honor is planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the GoFundMe page setup to benefit her family and to fund cancer research would be greatly appreciated at:
