Benjamin "Benny" Ortiz

Benjamin “Benny” Ortiz, a beloved soul, passed away on October 7, 2024, at the age of 47. Born in Philadelphia, Benny was the son of the late Carmen Colon. Benny lived a life that resonated with warmth and joy, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Benny was known for his deep love of music and his infectious passion for dance. His spirit was as vibrant as the tunes he cherished, bringing happiness not only to him but also to those around him. A gentle soul, Benny had a unique ability to forge connections and create bonds with those he spent his life with, especially his group housemates, whom he cherished like his own brothers.

Benny is survived by his dear sister, Jasmine, as well as his other loving family members, his precious roommates, and all his dear friends and caring staff at The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence.

A Viewing will be held in his honor on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Divine Providence Village Chapel, located at 686 Old Marple Road, Springfield, PA 19064. A Funeral Mass will commence at 11:00 AM. Benny will be laid to rest during the Interment Services at Magnolia Cemetery, located at 4500 Levick & Jackson Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19135, beginning at 1:00 PM.
