Mr. Benjamin Franklin Vilbert, a 50 year resident of West Chester, PA, died Thursday, 6 April, of natural causes. He was 91.
Born in Overland, MO in 1925, he was the son of the late Mary E. "Mae" (O'Brien) and Benjamin Franklin Vilbert. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Muriel Ann (Robison) Vilbert and is survived by his five children, 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Vilbert was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from Texaco after a career as the Chief of Fire, Safety and Security at the Wilmington, DE oil refinery where he compiled an award winning safety record. In retirement, Mr. Vilbert was an avid furniture maker producing meticulously crafted pieces of furniture for each of his children. He was also a skilled bridge player, outdoor cook, and enthusiastic participant in everything in which his children and grandchildren were involved.
Funeral services will be held at the Willistown United Methodist Church, 6051 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073 on Saturday, 15 April with visitation starting at 10 a.m., services at 11 a.m.
