Bernard John Gombar, 81, of Thornton, PA passed away on October 30, 2013.
Born in 1932 in St. Clair, PA, Bernard was the son of Mary A. (Wagner) and Frank J. Gombar, both deceased.
He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and served honorably in the US Air Force.
He retired as a Mechanical Engineer from Boeing in Ridley Park. He enjoyed family get-togethers, golfing, painting, bird watching and was an avid Phillies fan.
Bernard was the loving husband of Joan G. (Abt) Gombar; loving father of Alan M. Gombar (Becky) of Cape May Courthouse, NJ, David M. Gombar of West Bradford, PA, Deborah J. Rausher (William) of Roaring Branch, PA, Frank E. Witmer (Patricia) of Exton, PA, Cynthia W. Schofield (Christopher) of Kennett Square, PA, and the late Nadine M. Jones (Richard); and dear grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Grish) Gombar.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 8:30-9:45 AM Tuesday, November 5, 2013 and to his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Cornelius Church, 110 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
