Bernice “Lois” Stuart (nee Houston), age 82, of West Chester, PA, passed away on March 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and cherished memories.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1942, she was the daughter of the late James Dix and Alice Mary (nee Doyle) Houston.
An avid golfer, Lois found joy and camaraderie on the greens, where she tirelessly developed in the sport she loved. She was also an accomplished bridge player, a tough but respectful opponent and a great partner. Her green thumb turned her yard into a lush oasis filled with blooming flowers and eclectic plants that brightened her neighborhood.
Lois loved the theater. As a dedicated patron, she spent countless evenings immersed in the performances that captured her imagination, sharing her appreciation for the arts with friends and family. Additionally, Lois was a world traveler, embracing new cultures and experiences, enriching her life and those around her with stories of her adventures. Her adventures included parasailing, hang gliding, whitewater rafting, snorkeling, riding a hot air balloon and flying in a motorless glider. She even walked on the Great Wall of China.
A devoted grandmother, Lois (Grandma Bliss) took great pride in her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her commitment to family was unwavering, and she often spoke of the joy that her grandchildren brought her.
Lois was the beloved wife of Jess Stuart, loving mother of Stephen Cahill and Christa Cavanaugh; beloved Aunt of Keith and Vikki German, Kirsten Nelson and Kimber McEntee, caring grandmother of Nicole, Ryan, and Lakin Cahill, Seth and Katie Cavanaugh, Cameron, Courtney, Clayton, and Zoe Stuart, and Elizabeth Piloyants; dear sister of Cheryl McEntee and Alice Perrone. She cheerfully accepted the role of helping raise a second family of Steve, Scott, Stan and Maria Stuart (now Maria Piloyants).
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
