Beverly Jean Ferrell, 80, of Paoli, PA, an entrepreneur, advertising executive, wife and mother died January 14 at her home surrounded by family.
Mrs. Ferrell was born in Warren, OH, the daughter of John and Margaret Zamiska Zarick. After graduating from Warren G. Harding High School she attended Ohio University in Athens, OH where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast communication in 1960. Following graduation she joined the staff of KYW television, then headquartered in Cleveland, OH.
In 1961 she married her college sweetheart, David L. Ferrell, and after a short stay in Akron, OH, the couple moved to Clarendon Hills, IL, a suburb of Chicago, where they lived and worked until 1969. While in Clarendon Hills Mrs. Ferrell owned The Heir and Heiress Shop, an exclusive children's clothing store.
In 1969 Mr. Ferrell was transferred to New York and the family moved to Rowayton, CT. Yet another transfer in 1971 found the family settling into her present residence in Paoli, PA. From 1984 until 1991 Mrs. Ferrell was a media executive and agency manager of Ferrell-Cleary & Associates, a public relations, advertising and marketing agency co-owned by her husband. The firm had offices in Philadelphia, Lancaster and Exton. From 1991 to 2016 she continued to work with her husband as a marketing communications consultant.
Mrs. Ferrell was an active tennis and golf competitor on traveling teams at Waynesborough Country Club where they were members for more than 30 years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her son, David L. Jr. and wife Christine of Phoenixville and her daughter, Amy E. Avellino and husband Greg of Broomall; four grandchildren, Shea, Brandon, Jesse and Samantha; her brother Thomas Zarick and wife Lyn of Cleveland, OH and her sister Eileen Zarick of New York City. Her older brother John (Nick) Zarick died in 2014.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Thursday Evening, January 17, 2019, 6-8 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087, 610-989-9600, and on Friday morning, 10-10:50 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
Interment private.
