Bridget A. “ Bridge” Taggart (nee Gavin), age 89, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on December 23, 2022. Born in Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Ellen Gavin (nee Campbell).
Bridget enjoyed and welcomed family and friends into her home endlessly and traveled to Ireland, England, Chicago, New York and anywhere she needed to be with those she loved. She enjoyed her days at the beach and spending time with all those who loved her. Bridget was a devout member of the Legion of Mary at St. Charles and spent years visiting members in the hospital, nursing homes, and their homes.
Bridget was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Taggart; loving mother of Thomas Taggart, Ellen Sweeney (Jim), Margie DiLoretto (David), Joseph Taggart (Anne), Brian Taggart (Margaret), and Marie Prasalowicz (Mark); caring sister of Kathleen Kelly, Padraic Gavin, Jack Gavin, Lena Taggart, Tony Gavin, and Ursula Harnett. Predeceased by her siblings Mary Lord and Bernie Gavin. Beloved sister- in- law and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Adoring grandmother to 18 grandchildren Justine (Tom), Kelly (Thomas), Leah (Craig), Brittany (Pat), Alyssa, Dan (Genna), Julia (Brian), Matthew, Ryan, Mark, Joseph, Nicole, Michael, Madelyn, Morgan, Meredith, Carolyn, and Gavin. Devoted great-grandmother to Tommy, Lena, Thomas, and Reagan.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 6:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo, 3422 Dennison Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www.jdrf.org, would be greatly appreciated.
