Bruno A. Giordano, age 89, of Devon, PA, passed away on December 6, 2018.
Bruno A. Giordano had his photograph in the New York Times twice. First as a 16 year old Bronx Boy, he won the coveted Golden Gloves Heavyweight championship of N.Y.C. and then several years later as a young Lieutenant in Korea, he was pictured shooting down a Korean MIG on his birthday.
In 1951 he graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at WestPoint with a career of football and lacrosse. He received the distinguishable honor of becoming an "All American" lacrosse player of national fame.
He received his "wings" at Nellis A.F.B. in 1952 and enjoyed a very successful career as an F-86 fighter pilot and a proud member of the Sabre Jets. He obtained an MBA from Syracuse University and spent the next years in Satellite Control for the Air Force. In 1967 he became "Chief of Astronauts" for the Satellite Program.
When the program ended, he retired to Devon, married Susan, and founded Dorset Financial Services. He became one of the area's premier financial planners and speakers. He authored a book on Trust and Estate Planning and retired to enjoy his summer home in Avalon with Susan, his grandchildren, and many friends.
He was a proud member of the Union League of Philadelphia, the Devon Horse Show, the Avalon Yacht Club, and Stone Harbor Golf Club.
He was a fun man, loving and generous, and always ready for stories and jokes. He created murder mystery plays for his many friends and guests at the shore.
His grandchildren brought him much joy, laughter as well. He will be much missed.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie, his son Antonio, his two step sons Hugh and Steven Yeakel, and five beloved grandchildren Joseph Still, Caitlyn Still, Kristin Yeakel, Heather Yeakel, and Nicholas Giordano.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Funeral Service Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 Valley Forge Rd, Wayne, PA 19087. Interment Private.
