Byron M. Evans, age 46, A.K.A. The Bywood Ninja, born and raised in the Bywood section of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on March 29, 2016. He was a loving and devoted husband to Noël Evans (nee Coverdale) and loving father to his sons, Charles D., Austin H., and Christopher M. Evans.
Byron was a graduate of Upper Darby High School. He worked for Upper Darby Township in Construction while volunteering for Cardington Fire Company. He was employed as a career firefighter with the Upper Darby Fire Department and was a member of the IAFF Local 2493. He was a recipient of numerous awards for his self-less service in the line of duty.
Byron was a Mason and a member of the Springfield-Hanby Lodge #767 in Springfield, PA. He was a wrestling coach for the Drexel Hill Raiders, a coach for Upper Darby Ice Hockey and a baseball coach with Upper Darby Little League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending as much time with his three boys and eleven nieces and nephews. He cherished his wife and their time spent in Avalon together.
In addition to his wife and boys, he is survived by his mother Lynn Evans (nee Atkinson), life partner Joseph Hurst, his brother Buck Evans, his sister Sage Evans, his father-in-law Robert H. Coverdale, his mother-in-law Arlene J. Coverdale, his brother-in-law Christopher R. Coverdale (Grisette), his sister-in-law Danielle E. (Dominick) Basciano and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Byron Jakeman.
