Carmela Mildred “Millie” Zappile, a cherished member of her community, passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 102.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Natalina (née Anastasia) D’Onofrio.
Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Millie found joy and companionship in various activities. She was an avid participant in book clubs, where her love for literature blossomed, introducing her to new worlds and ideas. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel groups, where she explored new places, creating cherished memories along the way. Millie also enjoyed the camaraderie of card groups, sharing laughter and good times with friends. Additionally, she had a meaningful involvement with The Questers organization, reflecting her passion for history and preservation.
Millie was the beloved wife of the late Matthew Louis Zappile; the loving mother of Matthew Zappile and Cynthia Zappile Walters, and the devoted grandmother of Sara Zappile, Jon Walters, and Ryan Walters.
A Graveside Service to honor Millie's memory will be held at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA, on February 12, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather by the Cemetery Chapel at 12:50 PM. Come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts.
