Carmella Flood

Carmella Flood (nee DeStefano), age 85, of Drexel Hill, PA, formerly of South Philadelphia, passed away on June 5, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Rose DeStefano (nee Bunodona).

Carmella loved spending time in Ocean City, Naples, Florida and not much made her happier than a trip to the casinos to play the slots. She enjoyed spending time spoiling her children and grandchildren while shopping and going to lunch. Through the years, she had acquired a large collection of salt and pepper shakers which grew quite enormous as the family began bringing them home as souvenirs from their travels. But most of all she was extremely devoted to her 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. As the family grew so did Carmella’s arms; welcoming everyone in and loving them as if they were her own. Carmella was also known as “GG”, loved deeply and her family was her greatest joy.

Carmella was the beloved wife of the late Paul W. Flood; loving mother of Rose Downey (Jim), Margaret Manley (Mark), Mary Egleston (Glenn), and the late Lawrence Flood (Laura); devoted sister of Ralph DeStefano and the late Catherine “Cookie” Souza. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 plus 3 bonus great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to Carmella’s Viewing 9:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11^th at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
