Carol Ann Titzel

Carol Ann Titzel passed away on February 1, 2024 from complications of COPD at Dunwoody Village in Newtown Square PA.   Carol was born in Bryn Mawr on July 25, 1947 to Robert John (Jack) and Eleanor Gray Titzel.  She grew up in Rosemont and Berwyn, PA and graduated in 1966 from The Booth School.    She earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Cazenovia College in 1968.   Carol began her career in merchandising at Wanamakers and worked there for 15 years as a Buyer and Department Manager   She left Wanamakers to join her father’s company Delchester Oil as a Vice President and remained there until the business was sold in 1998.  After that Carol followed her passion and worked with infants and young children in a daycare setting.

 Carol loved the Jersey Shore and made many trips to the family home in Stone Harbor and later to Avalon.  Friends and relatives were always invited and enjoyed the Titzels’ hospitality.   Carol also traveled to various parts of the US as well as to parts of Europe, Russia, and Asia.  

 Over the years, Carol was active with many social, civic and charitable organizations including Desk and Derrick, Samaritan’s Purse, Great Valley Food Cupboard, T & E Care and Children International.   She served on the homeowners’ boards at both The Ridings and The Quarters in Chesterbrook and was a longtime member of Wayne Presbyterian Church.   

 Carol always had a fondness for babies and children, as well as for kittens and cats.   She had an eye for color, and a deep appreciation for beauty and music.   She was always extremely generous, donating frequently to food banks and animal rescue organizations.  She was a prolific giver of gifts and always delighted the many children in her life with the perfect birthday or Christmas present.

 Carol was predeceased by both her parents. She is survived by 4 first cousins and their spouses:  Linda Neumann, Nancy Gray, Robert Gray and Marjorie Murray as well as by those cousins’ 8 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.   In addition Carol is survived by Christina, a young lady she knew and nurtured for 18 years and whom she treated as a beloved grandchild.

 Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Dunwoody Village, 3500 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, followed by her Celebration of Life Service, 11:00 AM.  Interment private.
