Carole Joan (Greer) McAnaney, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 26, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1948, on Long Island, NY, and raised in West Chester, PA. Carole was the daughter of the late James McKinley and Marcella Dyzenkowski Greer. She was the younger sister of the late Margaret "Peggy" Davis.
A 1966 graduate of West Chester High School, Carole went on to earn a degree in Nursing from Marymount Manhattan College. She began her career as a dedicated nurse in the open-heart surgery unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, and after raising her children in Darien, CT, worked as a travel agent for New Canaan TravelWorld, jobs that perfectly embodied her kindness, compassion, and adventurous spirit. Her love for travel took her across multiple continents, and she had a particular fondness for Asia, where she briefly lived in Hong Kong, as well as African safaris.
Carole was an avid gardener and a lover of animals, most especially cats. Reflective of her warmth and kind-heartedness, many of her feline friends found loving forever homes simply by repeatedly showing up on her doorstep. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, dancing, and phone chats with her close friend Maureen. Carole cherished every moment spent with her family, never missing a holiday, birthday, or any opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the lives of her loved ones.
Carole's warmth, affection, and thoughtfulness made her the heart of her family. She had a unique way of making her family feel special and valued, always ensuring their safety and happiness. Her nurturing and considerate nature left a lasting impact on everyone she touched.
She is survived by her son, Timothy McAnaney, and his wife, Lee Work, of San Francisco, CA, along with their children, Vassili, James, and Charlotte McAnaney; her daughter, Karin McAnaney, of Philadelphia, PA; and her niece, Lisa Davis, and her daughter, Libby, of Ellicott City, MD. Carole was a cherished friend to many.
