Catherine M. "Kit" Blumstein (nee Capper), age 51, of Berwyn, PA, passed away on April 11, 2013. Catherine M. Blumstein was born July 1, 1961 in Philadelphia, PA. She was adopted within 6 weeks by her parents, Al and Jane Capper, and raised in Lansdowne, PA, and North Wildwood, NJ where she spent her high school years. After graduation, she matriculated at Chestnut Hill College, working to support herself at The Bald Fox grocery store on Penn's campus while she completed her BA degree in Education. She graduated Chestnut Hill with Education departmental honors in 1984. She also met her future husband, Lew, at Penn, and they married December 29, 1984. They were married at St. James RC church at 36th and Chestnut; it was 72 degrees F that day, which was fortunate since horse and carriage were ordered to escort the wedding party to the reception.

Catherine began her education career in 1984 as well, as a teacher with Ss Colman-John Neumann school in Bryn Mawr. She left school in 1990 to raise her
3 children - David, Meghan and Zach. She returned to teaching in 1996, with a year at St. Raymond's in Germantown, then back to Ss Colman-John Neumann, where she taught in the classroom until 2003. while teaching and rasing her family, Cathy earned her Masters in Education from Cabrini College, and was given the Graduate Program Award for top student in 2003. In 2003, she became Principal of Ss Colman-John Neumann, and continued as Principal until 2012. As Principal, Cathy led one of the top Catholic grade schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and during her tenure the school was recognized nationally twice for excellence in applying technolgy in the classroom by the National Catholic Educators Association (NCEA).

Cathy had many passions in life, which included her family, spending time at the beach, and teaching. She directly influenced over 900 children in her
classrooms, and many others including teachers, administrators and parents while servicing as Principal.
Cathy was the beloved wife of Lew Blumstein, dear mother of David, Meghan and Zachary. Also survived by her siblings Elizabeth Spudich and Aloysius Capper. Daughter of the late Aloysius and Jane (nee Cabrey) Capper. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday 6-9 PM, The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 610-353-6300 and to her Funeral Mass, Thursday at 10:30 AM, St. John Neumann Church, Radnor Rd. & Highland Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA. Int. Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine's name to Catholic Social Services, 222 N. 17th St., Philadelphia, PA 19103 would be appreciated.
