Catherine "Kate" Hall Helwig, 89, of West Chester and formerly of Ocean Pines, MD, passed away on June 30, 2013 at Barclay Friends Nursing Home in West Chester, PA.
Born in June 1924 in Oakmont, PA, Kate was the daughter of Edna McFadgen and Daniel Hall, both deceased.
Kate was an avid bridge player with a generous and magnetic personality who strongly influenced those who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain. She traveled the world, living in Tokyo, Japan and Seoul Korea as well as Ocean Pines, MD, The Villages, FL and Pittsburgh, PA. Kate instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of travel, fine food and entertaining.
She was the beloved wife of 62 years of the late Ralph W. Helwig of Millersburg, PA, who preceded her in death in 2007. They met at Gulf Research, where they were both working, during World War II.
Kate was the loving mother of Ralph D. Helwig, M. William Helwig, Catherine H. Schneider and Lee H. Broderick; loving grandmother of Alise W. Baer, William F. Broderick and Robert M. Broderick; and beloved sister of Daniel R. Hall.
A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2013 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church,1351 Paige Pl Lady Lake, FL 32159
