Catherine Lonetti

Catherine C. Lonetti, 86, of Swarthmore, PA formerly of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on December 20, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard “Rick” P. Lonetti, Sr. and daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella (nee Matera) Lista. She is also predeceased by her brother Dr. William Lista.

Catherine was born and raised in South Philadelphia. She attended South Philadelphia High School for Girls and graduated in 1952. She continued her education and attended Temple University and graduated with honors to fulfill her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. Catherine loved getting her hair done every Saturday and was very friendly with her hair dresser, who had a brother in the military. Catherine agreed to a blind date and that was how she met her husband. They were married in July 1964. Being married to a military man, they moved around a lot, but eventually settled down in Drexel Hill to raise their son Rick. She taught 2nd grade at Sabold Elementary School on Springfield.

Catherine loved the beach and would spend the summer in North Wildwood, New Jersey. She also had a love of animals and contributed to the ASPCA and also the National Wildlife Federation. Catherine always had either a French Poodle following her around the house or a cat snuggled up next to her.

Catherine is survived by her son Richard “Rick” Lonetti (Jennifer), her grandchildren Nicholas Christopher and Anthony Lonetti, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to her Visitation on October 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Notre Dame deLourdes Church 990 Fairview Ave. Swarthmore, Pa 19081 followed by her 11:00 AM Memorial Mass. The family has requested that masks be worn in church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine's name can be made to the Providence Animal Center at 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, PA.
