Catherine Ryan (Strain), age 90, passed away peacefully in her home on July 5, 2015. Catherine was born June 17, 1925 to the late John and Catherine Strain of Chester, PA.
Other than her family, Catherine had a love for music and medicine. In her youth, she was recognized for her beautiful voice and sang at weddings and funerals. In her career as a nurse, she became Head of Nursing at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, where she always had a gentle and caring way with her patients.
She was the dear mother of Charles S. Ryan, Mary Pat (Jack) Salmon, Michael J. Ryan and Kit A. Kahley. Loving grandmother of Jessica, Kevin, Allison, Steve and Sean. Great-grandmother (Gigi) of James, Grant, Lucas and Evan. Sister of Christina Schiazza.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Friday, July 10, 2015 9:30-10:25 AM Church of St. Katharine of Siena, Lancaster and Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown, PA.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's memory be made to the Padre Pio Foundation of America, 463 Main Street, Cromwell, CT 06416.
