Catherine Ward (nee Dwyer), age 92, of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on February 10, 2016. Born in County Roscommon, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Ellen Dwyer (nee Spellman).
Catherine began her nursing career in London as a triage nurse during the "Blitz" of 1940. She then came to America and had a long successful career as a Registered Nurse, both in the private and public sector. She was a private duty nurse to Robert Scott Montgomery's mother for many years. She also cared for Mrs. Deveraux of the Deveraux Foundation and Mr. Strawbridge of Strawbridge and Clothier. She is finally at peace after a long battle with dementia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter John Ward and several family members in Ireland. She is survived by her children Kathleen Ward and Francis (Elizabeth) Ward (nee Roberts); her grandchildren Joseph, Stephen and Thomas Fratick and Stephanie, Natalie, Francis and Nicholas Ward, her step-grandson Eric Kenny and her great-grandchildren Sophia DeGuio, Cohl Ward, Scarlett Fitzpatrick and Adriana Ward.
