Celeste Baer, age 86, of Havertown, PA passed away December 13, 2016.
Born in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Francis and Helen Scanlan (nee Quarry).
Celeste attended Norristown High School and while there was captain of the cheerleading squad. Celeste's brother, Francis, was killed in WWII during the battle of Midway. In 1951 she married William Baer. She was a devoted wife and mother. She picked up the art of cooking and became her family's own Julia Child. "If you can read, you can cook" she would say.
She loved to travel, visiting Italy and the United Kingdom, as well as many locations throughout the US. As much as she loved to travel, she loved to shop and especially find a bargain even more.
Celeste loved to keep up on current events

no doubt shaped by the loss of her brother and the many events in a life lived from 1930 on. While she was a child of the depression, she never let it define her. As she rose above it, she taught her children to be the best they could be too. She was smart and opinionated and certainly not shy about sharing those opinions.
Celeste is survived by her three children, Christine Baer, Jeff Baer (Monique) and Greg Baer (Clare).
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Celeste's name to: Bryn Mawr Terrace 773 E Haverford Rd. Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. www.brynmawrterrace.org. Please make a note to say Celeste Baer
