Charles D. Atmore

Charles Dill Atmore, 93, of West Brandywine, PA, formerly of Hershey’s Mill passed away November 15, 2024.

Born November 8, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Deane and Mary Jane (nee Dill) Atmore.

Charles was very proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a pilot of fighter jets.

Charles was a graduate of Haverford High School and Lehigh University.

Charles worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer, retired from banking in 1997 and continued to work part-time until 2022. He was a member of Good Samaritan in Paoli and a previous member of Holy Comforter Church in Drexel Hill. Charles was a member of the Mozart Society, the Astronomical Society, Life Member of the Reserve Officers Association, Men’s Bible Study and the Fourth Street Club of Philadelphia. He was an avid bridge player, Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder since 1967 and enjoyed traveling. He was pleased to let all know that he visited all 50 states.

Chuck was the beloved husband of 47 years of Barbara E. (nee Houston) Atmore; loving father of Allison Stewart (William), Jeff Rice (Sue), Jim Rice (Kristi) and Jonathan Atmore; adoring Pop-Pop of William Stewart, Ryan Rice, Morgan Stewart, Mary Rice, Eric Rice, A.J. Rice, Mark Rice, Neely Rice, and Jack Rice; and dear brother of Jane Brown.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday, November 22, 2024 at Church of the Good Samaritan, 212 W. Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301, followed by his Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Interment is private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Church of the Good Samaritan Food Closet, 212 W. Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301, or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
